Khoiyachora Jhorna.

Khoiyachora Jhorna, a captivating waterfall located in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh, has become a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Situated in Mirsharai Upazila of Chittagong District, Khoiyachora Jhorna is renowned for its multi-tiered cascades and the lush, green surroundings that offer a refreshing escape from urban life.

Features of Khoiyachora Jhorna

Khoiyachora Jhorna is distinctive for its series of waterfalls, comprising at least seven major steps and several smaller ones. The water flows down from the hills, creating a spectacular view, especially during the monsoon season when the falls are at their fullest. The area around the waterfall is densely forested, providing a habitat for various flora and fauna, which enhances its natural beauty.

Location:

The location of this fountain is 4.2 kilometers east of the Dhaka-Chittagong highway on the north side of Baratakia Bazar in Mirsarai Upazila of Chittagong. [4] As the fountain is located on the inner side of the hill, it is not possible to reach the foot of the fountain directly using any vehicle. On foot or by local vehicles from Dhaka-Chittagong highway side (eg CNG) can be used to reach villages near the fountain. But there is no vehicle for the rest of the way through the villages at the foot of the hill to the main stream of the springs, only on foot.

History :

It is believed that the Khayachara spring has been flowing for about 50 years.[5] Its location has taken time to be discovered due to the uninhabited hilly terrain and overgrowth of bushes. Many people think that this spring was formed as a result of a mountain slide about 50 years ago, before that there was no spring here. In 2010, the government declared 2933.61 hectares of hill from Baraiadhala block to Kunder Hat (Bartakia) block as a national park, bringing the Khaiachhara Jharna National Park under its purview.[6] On behalf of the People's Republic of Bangladesh government in 2017, Chittagong North Forest Division of "Ramgarh-Sitakund-Reserve Forest" has adopted an eco-tourism development project focusing on Khaiyachhara springs, one of the main objectives of which is the conservation of Khaiyachhara springs.
